Middle Years Programme 0 — Admission criteria

Admission criteria for the MYP 0 class in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP 0 — 1st year of eight-year grammar school) in the school year 2024/2025

On the basis of the approval of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic No. 2023/8334:8-C2902 we are opening one class with the number of pupils 18 at the Gymnázum, Šrobárova 1, Košice in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme.

These conditions have been developed for specific categories of pupils that fall into one of the following criteria:
These are:

  1. Pupils with Slovak citizenship who study in Slovakia in international programmes
    1. studying in the IB PYP in Slovakia — they will be admitted by transfer, for admission to the MYP 0 program the legal representatives need to provide the pupil’s report cards for the last 2 years and a completed application form for the program,
    2. studying in another international programme — in order to be admitted to MYP 0, pupils must pass a mathematics transfer exam in English language, provide their report cards from the last two years of study and a completed application form.
  2. Foreign nationals may be admitted to the programme on presentation of a recommendation from a previous school, report cards from the last two years and a completed programme application form.

Pupils who are in Year 5 of a primary school in the Slovak Republic with a national curriculum in the school year 2023/2024 must meet the standard conditions for admission to secondary school, which are set out in the document — Conditions for admission to MYP 0 in the IB MYP International Programme in school year 2024/2025 (PDF — 207 kB) →.
